Cade McCutcheon, along with fellow TRFAM competitor Craig Schmersal, was co-champion of the inaugural event in 2019. Cade had Custom Made Gun shipped from Italy to Texas for the event, which some might have seen as a gamble. However, he had confidence in his mount after winning the 2015 Level 4 Non Pro Futurity Championship on him. The decision paid off with the inaugural The Run for a Million Co-Championship.
Later that year, Cade earned the NRHA Open Futurity Championship on Super Marioo, securing his spot as the youngest NRHA Million Dollar Rider in history.
Cade comes from a family of top competitors. His father Tom McCutcheon is an NRHA Two Million Dollar Rider and Million Dollar Owner. Cade’s mother, Mandy McCutcheon, is an NRHA Three Million Dollar Rider as well as a Million Dollar Owner. Cade’s grandfather is NRHA Hall of Fame Member Tim McQuay, an NRHA Three Million Dollar Rider and Million Dollar Owner, while his grandmother, Colleen McQuay, is also in the NRHA Hall of Fame.
Cade’s younger sister Carlee is an accomplished equestrian in both reining and English events, earning more than $144,000 in NRHA lifetime earnings.
Cade is one of 6 riders that has competed in The Run for a Million since its inception.
