The National Reining Horse Association (NRHA) will host the NRHA Potosí Sin Límites International Reining Cup August 6–9, 2026 at Arena Potosí in San Luis Potosí, Mexico, marking a significant expansion of international reining competition into one of the country’s most dynamic regions.
Supported by Governor Ricardo Gallardo Cardona, the event is expected to attract leading riders, owners, and horses from across North America and beyond. With a projected purse exceeding $100,000 USD, the competition will showcase elite reining talent against the backdrop of San Luis Potosí —an area renowned for its cultural heritage and natural beauty.
The event also highlights the longstanding contributions of Mexican breeders to the sport of reining. For generations, breeders across Mexico have developed and refined bloodlines known for their athleticism, trainability, and consistency in the show pen. The NRHA Potosí Sin Límites International Reining Cup provides an international platform to recognize that legacy and the continued advancement of Mexican-bred reining horses.
“This competition represents more than a new event on the calendar—it reflects a growing alignment among regions dedicated to the advancement of reining,” said NRHA Commissioner Billy Smith. “The support from the State of San Luis Potosí has made it possible to bring the international reining community together in a truly unique setting.”
In addition to premier competition, attendees will have the opportunity to experience the hospitality, culture, and traditions that define the region.
“Mexico has long been home to outstanding horsemen and women, as well as exceptional breeding programs,” Smith added. “This event celebrates that legacy while looking ahead to the future of the sport.”
Entries and additional event details will be released in the coming weeks.
