Reining Horse Foundation Expands Affiliate Regional Youth Scholarships for 2025

The Reining Horse Foundation has announced increased scholarship awards for youth competitors participating in Affiliate Regional Championship Youth Team Tournaments worldwide.

These Affiliate Regional Scholarships are available to NRHyA members who show in their Affiliate Regional Championship Youth Team Tournament. Youth from 13 regions across the globe—including the United States, Canada, Europe, Oceania, and Mexico—are eligible to apply.

The scholarships are not performance-based, emphasizing participation and engagement in the member’s NRHA Affiliate, community and school. The simple online application is available now, with a deadline of December 15.

For 2025, the RHF Board of Directors approved a significant increase in scholarship funding, made possible by donor contributions to RHF and its youth programs. Awards will now total $1,500 for first place and $1,000 for second place in each of the 13 regions.

These Affiliate Regional Scholarships are part of the RHF’s overall youth scholarship program, which now awards nearly $90,000 annually to support education for young reiners.

“Donors want these scholarships to support the education of youth reiners,” said Terri Mainey, chairperson of the RHF Scholarship Committee. “I encourage every NRHA affiliate youth adviser to reach out to Youth Team Tournament parents and exhibitors and get them to apply.

“Let’s share the good news far and wide about these Affiliate Regional Scholarships,” Mainey added. “They are designed to boost entry numbers and get more youth involved in reining at their regional level.”

Scholarships are a core program of the Reining Horse Foundation and reflect its mission to care for and honor the reining community. Scholarship funds are held for recipients until they enroll in higher education and are paid directly to educational institutions, ensuring they go toward students’ academic pursuits.
