Reiners Invited to Compete in Very First USEF CRI* National Championship held at NRHA Derby
Think you’re not experienced enough to enter a USEF High Performance Reining competition?  Think again!  Reiners are invited to compete in the inaugural USEF CRI* National Championship during the NRHA Derby in late June.  The USEF CRI* National Reining Championship is open to any rider who is not on the 2008 USEF Reining Long List or is on the restricted portion of the Long List and who has not competed in the Open Reining Championship in the last three years.

The Championship was designed to help develop the future of the sport of Reining on an International level.  To facilitate the growth of the High Performance Reining Program, the top 10 riders from the USEF CRI* National Reining Championship will be added to the USEF Reining Long List and will be eligible to compete in the Open Reining Championships the following year. Click here for more information about this exciting new competition or contact Courtney Barnett at cbarnett@usef.org.

2008 USEF National Youth Reining Championship coming to NRHA Derby

Inaugural 2008 FEI World Reining Championship set for September in Italy
It’s a “first” for the international Reining scene!    For the first time ever, Italy will host a brand new FEI event, the 2008 FEI World Reining Championship in Manerbio, Italy.

Teams will compete for World Championship medals September 11-14.  In past years, a World Reining Championship has only been offered during the FEI World Equestrian Games held every four years.  This year, teams will compete for the prestigious World Championship medals outside the WEG.

NRHA bids to hold 2008 and 2009 FEI World Reining Masters in OKC
The NRHA has officially placed its bid to bring one of the most prestigious Reining competitions in the world back to Oklahoma City.  The NRHA has applied to host the 2008 and 2009 FEI World Reining Masters in Oklahoma City.  The two-year bid to host the World Reining Masters is highly unusual because until last year the event has alternated between the United States and Europe each year.

The NRHA’s two-year proposal will now enter the approval process by the Federation Equestre International (FEI). The FEI is the worldwide governing body for equestrian sports recognized by the International Olympic Committee. If the FEI grants the NRHA’s bid, the 2008 FEI World Reining Masters will be held during this year’s NRHA Futurity and Adequan® North American Affiliate Championship Show set for November 27-December 6 at the Oklahoma State Fair Park.

The FEI World Reining Masters is a thrilling competition involving the best individual reiners in the world. All have qualified, according to a point system, in their National Federations. Once qualified, the riders advance to the Masters to compete for $100,000 in prize money, gold, silver and bronze medals in two divisions along with the honor and pride of representing their country.

If approved, this will be the third and fourth times the NRHA and Oklahoma City have hosted the FEI World Reining Masters. The inaugural event was held in Oklahoma City in 2004. The Masters was also held in Oklahoma City in 2007

Reining is the only western discipline to be recognized by the FEI. The FEI has 135 affiliated National Federations around the world. The United States Equestrian Federation (USEF) is the National Federation for the United States.

There have been changes in the qualification for the 2008 FEI World Reining Masters. Click here for the changes to the qualification. The standings for the World Reining Masters can be found on the FEI website at www.fei.org.
